Our third Local Folke Gathering which is technically our second gathering felt a lot like just our first gathering, not just because we're back at the same cafe where we had our first gathering but because of how intimate it was, however this time we held our gathering at the new extension of Acra's Yard Cafe, It's a smaller version of the main cafe, but it was the perfect place for a gathering of for 8 creatives. What we love about the space was that It was cozy and homy with the white and wood interior and overlooking the mountains and the trees. The place was super refreshing and rehabilitating, it was the perfect place for brunch and a warm cup of coffee. (and we're saying perfect a lot!)
The gathering was was a simple yet intimate coming together of creatives and mindful individuals. The conversations have been so honest, heartfelt, real and candid. Turning strangers to friends/partners, one gathering at a time. We can't thank everyone enough for choosing to be with us for brunch on a Sunday morning and sharing themselves with strangers. Truly it was a gathering that one of the books and we think we could have had it any other way.
8 brave and lovely souls from intimate brunch at Arca’s Yard Annex graced us last November. One of the most soul-crushing and refreshing gatherings we had. Tons of learning, sharing and mostly inspiration from everyone. I think the most valuable insight from this gathering that would sum up everything is that “whatever you do, do it for the right reasons”. I guess it’s both true for your personal and creative entrepreneurial endeavors.
We learned more about ourselves by sharing who we are and at the same time, we learn from the experiences of others. We tried to answer our why's for the things that we do. and give out analogies for our choices and how to choose from them. One of our creative mentioned that "life is a lot like an internet browser, the more you open tabs you have the more distracted you are. and you just have to close everything and open only one" and another one cited that "learning is like a lot watching a video on youtube while seeing the other suggested videos to watch, which is in a way distraction" learning and life is a lot like that and it made perfect sense.
The takeaways from this gathering were first, "whatever you do, do it for the right reasons", second, "find your biggest and greatest why" and third, is to simply focus. as creatives and entrepreneurs, these three things can change the course of your path as you work on it. By understanding these you are choosing yourself, your path, and your life. And we think that's a good start in living your greatest life. and We believe everyone, can go further when we understand these parts of who we are and embracing it.
We like to think of the gathering as a breather or a pause from the day to day shallow interaction both online & offline and everyday stress of living and work. and having a day spent with strangers makes you a bit aware of yourself and gives you that fresh new set of eyes and perspective on things. As creatives we experience burnout and sometimes that spark tends to die out a little. It's good to voice out angst and thoughts and have strangers listen and speak your mind. It's the most liberating thing we can do. and it's something we want you to experience.
The Local Folke Gathering is a nonprofit effort that we love hosting monthly, mainly because we believe in having safe space wherein you can be yourself and help bring out the best in everyone, get to meet strangers and learn from each other's experiences -and I guess that's why all the efforts we put into doing this is all worth it. That's why it's so hard to stop meeting these people because everyone is so inspiring and everyone has a story to tell and be heard. Taking that one day of the month to meet new people is healthy for the mind & soul.
THE LOCAL FOLKE GATHERING VOL 2.
These are the creatives and entrepreneurs that joined our November creative gathering, who shared the whole experience with everyone. The goal is to create a community of creatives who are willing to work together and collaborate with one another.
